Hard wove paper. Four plates were used: plate I and II of 60 subjects arranged in 6 columns and 10 rows, and plate III and IV of 200 subjects arranged as 20 columns and 10 rows. The stamps produced from plate III and IV are also found on porous wove paper from 1859. There were 9 deliveries of the 1 real stamps from the printers. The actual number of printings is unknown.

As seen below, the ratio of plate I & II stamps versus plate III & IV stamps is roughly 1 to 1. Therefore it can be assumed that the number of surviving stamps from each plate group is approximately half the number stated above.
The number of stamps in the first delivery was 527790 stamps, corresponding to 8796½ sheets of 60 stamps. Since we know that the number delivered is actually the number accepted, this is no proof that only sheets of 60 were produced. However, there are NO combinations of sheets of 60 and of 200 subjects that would result in a number of whole sheets delivered!
The second delivery on December 30, 1856 was of 118340 stamps, corresponding to 1972 1/3 sheets of 60, or any one of 197 combinations of 60 and 200 subject sheets resulting in a delivery of only whole sheets. These numbers by themselves can therefore not be used to draw any meaningful conclusions. According to Celis Cano, the stamps delivered were distributed as follows:
Delivered July 30 - Dec. 30, 1856 | 646130 | Only Plate I & II |
Deliveries January 31, 1857 and forward | 745600 | Only Plate III & IV |
Total | 1391730 |
The most important information gleaned from this is that the two plate groups are equally rare, and that the stamps from plate III & IV presumably were used over a much longer period of time. A stamp cancelled before January 31, 1857 must, according to this, be assumed to be from plate I or plate II.
