The Apam overprint is approximately 9 by 2 mm. It was often applied in the margin between stamps, but also both horizontally and vertically on the stamp. The overprint is known in black. APAM between two square blocks is believed to be a forgery, most likely applied to unoverprinted remainders or reprints.
On average, the stamps have large margins for the issue.
Forgeries of the black Apam overprint exist.
